When two people get married, you'll want to mark the relationship on your site and edit their giving unit status as well.
To enter in a marital relationship,
1. Find and open the person record for a member of the couple.
2. Click the plus sign to the right of the Family section heading to start a new relationship entry.
3. If the other half of the couple already has a person record in the system, use the drop-down menu to find their name. If their record has not been created, type in the person's first and last name and click on the entry proceeded by the string "New Person:".
4. Use the drop-down menu to select the Spouse option.
5. Click the "Add" button to add the new relationship.
6. Directly under the spouse's name, click Enter Date to add a wedding month, day, and/or year, if known.
7. Directly under the wedding date, review the couple's contribution status. If the couple will be giving as a joint unit from now on, leave them as giving jointly. If the two want to give separately, click the Jointly option to edit their giving status.
8. Click anywhere in the white space on the record to automatically save your changes.
It's important to note, all offerings given by a single person before the relationship was changed, will still be attributed only to that single person. All offerings given by the couple after this relationship was added, will be attributed to both. Updating marriage information may result in a couple receiving contribution statements both for themselves and for their joint giving.
If you have concerns over couples receiving multiple contribution statements, please reach out to CTS to merge offerings however you need.
