A marriage relationship has extra aspects that you may need to edit, such as the wedding date, whether or not the couple gives jointly (for tax purposes), and/or if the couple divorces.
To edit a relationship,
- Hover your mouse over the relationship in question until you see the Edit pencil and click on it.
- You will see several options.
- Click Edit Marriage Date to enter the couple's wedding date.
- To change their giving status, for tax purposes, if they are giving jointly, you'll see the option to Mark Contributing Separately, and if they are currently marked that way, you'll see an option to Mark Contributing Jointly.
- Mark Divorced
- Mark Deceased indicates that the person indicated in the relationship has passed away. This will change their status to deceased.
Notes regarding envelopes and giving:
- Make note of any envelope number before making a change to the marriage's giving status, so you can make the appropriate envelope attribution afterward.
- All offerings given by the couple before these change will still be attributed to both, and all offerings given by the surviving spouse after the relationship was edited, will be attributed only to surviving spouse. Updating marriage or death information may result in a couple receiving separate contribution statements one for themselves and one for their joint giving.
