Renumber Envelopes

Follow

When preparing for your new year, renumbering your offering envelopes is a process you may want to do, in order to remove envelopes from people who should no longer be receiving them, and keep your envelope numbers lower so you have to order fewer envelopes.

  1. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner to access your settings. A drop-down box will appear. Select "Envelopes."

  2. Make sure that you are only renumbering those individuals who have an envelope number. Create a Smart Group by adding a trait of "Who have an Envelope Number at all." For more information on creating Smart Groups, visit our help page on "how to create smart groups".

  3. In the bar at the bottom of the screen, choose the number you wish to start your renumbering with (usually 1). Once that number is correct, click "Renumber."  Note:  If there are individuals that you do not want to renumber check the "Don't Renumber" box.  This will prevent them from being updated. If there are individuals who should no longer have an envelope number, remove their envelope number in the "next envelope" box, and then check the "Don't Renumber" box.

  4. Double-check that the numbers are correct. If you want the changes to take place immediately, click the Apply Changes button. If you'd like the changes to take place later, click the Schedule Renumbering button and then pick the date you'd like the changes to take place on.

Note: We recommend for the purposes of being able to more easily finish entering offerings for your outgoing year that you give yourself about an extra week of time from when your envelopes actually change over (For example, if your new envelopes go into effect on January 1st, it may be a good idea to set your new envelopes to take effect on January 8th so you have a week to finish entering all the previous year's offerings under the old numbers).
