Cached Groups

Follow

To enhance the speed and performance of Church360°, Smart Groups now automatically generate a Cached Group. Cached Groups improve efficiency by storing the results of the Smart Group criteria, eliminating the need to reprocess them each time they're accessed.

Church360° caches group data daily (overnight) and updates it whenever a Smart Group is modified, ensuring that the cached group data is always accurate.

You might see Event Log entries showing updates to these cached groups, marked with the Smart Group icon and the user listed as "Church360°".

The causes for these updates might include:

  • A new Smart Group was created.
The system evaluates existing data and adds individuals who meet the criteria.
  • An existing Smart Group was edited.
Changing the group's filters (e.g., age range, attendance frequency) causes the system to re-evaluate membership.
  • A new person was added to the database.
If their information matches the criteria of an existing Smart Group, they’re automatically included.
  • A person was archived.
Archived individuals are removed from all groups they previously belonged to.
  • A person’s data changed.
    • They now meet the criteria for a group they weren’t in before (e.g., a child’s Confirmation date is recorded).
    • They no longer meet the criteria for a group they were in (e.g., someone previously marked as “Delinquent” attends church again).

In the screenshot below, you can see how Cached Groups are created and updated.

  1. A group was created based on Smart Group criteria.
  2. A household's address was edited.
  3. The group was refreshed to include household members who now qualify based on the address change.
